Hi there and welcome to my blog Dressing Outside The Box. My name is Isabell and I am a 29 year old fashion designer and stylist. I am currently working as a senior stylist for a common German fashion retailer in Stuttgart, Germany. I have started this blog in december 2013 as a passionate hobby which has developed into to small business throughout the years. My style can be described in mainly 3 words: clean, sophisticated and androgynous. Follow me for fashion updates, style inspiration away from gender boundaries, beauty advices and body positivity.
I am also writing for the German plus size blog Soulfully since March, 2015. I am publishing 2 posts per month which are all written in German. But don’t hesitate to stop by for outfit inspiration since I am not publishing all the looks on Dressing Outside The Box. Here is a link to my profile.
Fashion:
I truly believe that fashion is for everyone and shouldn’t be bound by size, gender, age or ethnic origin. Working as a professional in the fashion industry, fashion has indeed become my life, my art form and window to my soul but on the same time I don’t take myself too seriously. It’s just clothes – try it on, play with it and if you don’t like it, try something else. Just always do you and be who or whatever you want to be.
Beauty:
I’ve always said that if it wasn’t for the fashion industry I would probably have ended in the beauty industry. Same as fashion, beauty and makeup are tools for personal expression and I think that’s what it makes so intriuging for me. I am always looking for high-quality skincare products and beautiful makeup and will share with you new discoveries and must-have items.
Something personal: I am obsessed with the art of drag and am always up to speed when it comes to RuPaul’s Drag Race. I adore a lot of Queens but my favourites are definitely Kim Chi, Katya Zamolodchikova, Jinkx Monsoon, Sharon Needles, Raja and Bob the Drag Queen. One of my highlights of 2016 has been visiting the „RuPaul’s Drag Race-Battle of the Seasons“ Extravaganza Tour in Berlin.
Positivity:
I like to think of this blog as a positive zone. I have been reading a lot of bullshit lately when it comes to the term body positivity. Some people believe that being body positive means being healthy and therefore ones goal should be losing weight to gain a healthier body. But let me tell you, the size of your body does not act as an indicator of your health. While you can be fat and healthy at the same time you can also be slim and unhealthy. Plus – your health is nobody’s concern than yours! Body Positivity is simply the appreciation and acknowledgement for ALL body types – no more, no less. There is no such thing as a „good body“, as all bodies are good. This is what I believe and stand for!
